A brief history of the theater . . .
The New Lux Theater was founded by Michael Christian in 1979 in Boston, where it was named The Comedy Tragedy Theater. It merged with General Films in 1997, producing several 16 mm. film projects, as well as The Art of Kissing DVD. In 2002 it produced two television programs in New York City, and it began developing Meet the Real Ernest Shackleton, which opened Off-Off Broadway in 2004 at the Sande Shurin Theatre. In 2024 it produced The Beat Generation and Crazy About You at The Producers Club in Manhattan.
